Encontrada dentro de uma haste brilhante de bambu por um trabalhador idoso e a esposa, uma pequena menina cresce rapidamente e se transforma em uma jovem requintada. A misteriosa jovem encanta todos que a veem, mas, ela deve enfrentar seu destino cedo ou tarde.
O compositor Joe Hisaishi trabalhou em "A Viagem de Chihiro" (2001), "Princesa Mononoke" (1997) e "Porco Rosso - O Último Herói Romântico" (1992).
