Mr. Turner é a cinebriografia de J. M. W. Turner, um dos grandes pintores ingleses do século 19. Entre o isolamento de seu trabalho e festas na aristocracia, ele passa por momentos de solidão e de relação estreita com a governanta que mora com ele.
A trilha sonora foi composta Gary Yershon, que optou por canções bem sombrias e clássicas para refletir o momento da época.
